Prior Spotlights:

Ryan Braun, MIL 3B

The latest rage in fantasy sports has become predicting the rookie or minor league stud that's going to get called up and become a fantasy superstar. In the preseason, people were hot-to-trot on players like third basemen Alex Gordon and Kevin Kouzmanoff. Then a couple weeks into the season, the buzz began surrounding the call-up of San Francisco Giants fireballer Tim Lincecum. The current stud to hit the majors is Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Ryan Braun. The Brewers have been thoroughly disgusted with the current platoon of players that they have trotted out to the hot corner and they're committed to give Braun the job indefinitely.

Ryan Braun (Scott Paulus/Brewers)Braun is a terrific hitter who possesses the ever-illusive combination of power and speed. Last year in Double-A, he carried a .303 batting average with 15 homeruns and 12 stolen bases in 231 at-bats. This season in Triple-A Nashville, Braun carried a .354 batting average with 10 bombs and 4 swipes to date. The big knock on him has been his play in the field. Basically, his poor fielding was the only reason that he didn't start 2007 as the Brewers starting third baseman. So from a fantasy baseball perspective, there really isn't a red flag for him at all!

This is a guy that you need to add to your fantasy team immediately. It doesn't matter who you have to drop. There's definitely an expendable player on your roster that Braun can bump out. After three games in the bigs, Ryan has made a splash and has the fantasy world a buzz. He has 4 hits in 11 at-bats with one homerun, two runs scored, three RBIs, and one stolen base. Look at that line, he's showing his five-tool potential already! Go out and get him while you can!
