    Previous Gems:
    Bye Week

Need help sifting through the big performances from guys on your league's waiver wire to figure out who you want to pick up? Who's going to be the diamond in the rough and who's going to be a one week wonder? The Robin Sports Waiver Wire Gems will give you our take on the week's most noticeable stat lines. The goal of this column is to help you decide between the guys most likely to be available on your free agent wire. Here's how we'll break them down:

Buried Treasure - These guys really have some potential and they're players you should definitely consider adding to your team. The guys listed in the "No Brainers" section are those that I'm betting are already long gone in your league.
Fool's Gold - Don't get caught up in one week of success. These are guys that you'd be better off staying away from.

Lets start with the gems, THE BURIED TREASURE! The Week 5 stat line is in parenthesis.

Buried Treasure

Kurt Warner, Ari QB - (190 pass yds, 1 TD, 1 INT) Warner should really be in the No Brainer section, but wanted to talk about him. This will be his 3rd tour of duty as a full time starter and he's going to have a nice arsenal of weapons to work with. The trio of Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Edgerrin James is pretty close to another trio you may have heard of...Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, and Marshall Faulk. The link between the two? Kurt Warner. Now I'm not expecting a return to MVP form, but Warner makes a very nice fantasy addition for anybody lucky enough to snatch him up.

Donte Stallworth, NE WR - (4 rec, 65 rec yds, 1 rec TD, 12 rush yds) It's taken longer than expected, but Stallworth has finally begun to show some fantasy value as a Patriot. For those of you that missed out on Patrick Crayton, Stallworth's MO is pretty similar. He's the No. 2 wide receiver on one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL and he makes an excellent bye week fill-in.

Jason Wright, Cle RB - (59 rush yds, 4 rec, 43 rec yds) The MRI on Jamal Lewis's foot came back as a foot sprain and there's a chance that he won't be able to go this weekend against Miami. With the Dolphins sporting one of the worst run defenses in football, Wright could make for a sneaky addition this week in case he gets the starting nod on Sunday.

Jason Campbell, Was QB - (248 pass yds, 2 pass TD, 0 INT) Campbell is settling in well in his second year in the NFL. There are very few people that would have picked Campbell to be the 2nd year QB to make a significant fantasy impact this year, but he's actually outperforming Matt Leinart, Vince Young, and Philip Rivers (3rd year in the NFL, but only 2nd year as a starter).

Kenny Watson, Cin RB - (55 rush yds, 2 rec, 8 rec yds) Rudi Johnson is still struggling to return from his hamstring injury and he has missed multiple practices this week. If he's not ready to go on Sunday, then Watson will once again get a chance to start for the Bengals. If you're in need of running back help, Watson makes for a decent temporary stop-gap.

No Brainers: Derek Anderson, Cle QB; Ahman Green, Hou RB; David Garrard, Jac QB; Greg Jennings, GB WR

Now let's take a look at THE FOOL'S GOLD

Fool's Gold

DeShawn Wynn, GB RB - (78 rush yds, 1 rush TD, 1 rec, 13 rec yds) The Green Bay backfield is just too crowded for my liking. Brandon Jackson will return from his injury this weekend, which will force Head Coach Mike McCarthy to figure out how to get carries for Wynn, Jackson, and Vernand Morency. You're better off taking a chance on a guy like Jason Wright or Kenny Watson.

Kenton Keith, Ind RB - (121 rush yds, 2 rush TD, 5 rec, 37 rec yds) Kudos to all of you that cashed in on Keith's Week 5 performance. Unfortunately, it's time to cut him loose if you don't own Joseph Addai. The Colts have a bye this week and Addai (bruised shoulder) should be healthy again by the time Indy meets Jacksonville during Week 7.

Gus Frerotte, StL QB - (262 pass yds, 3 pass TD, 3 INT) Gus Frerotte is a career backup that's never been anything more than a mediocre quarterback during his intermittent starting opportunities. If Marc Bulger was struggling in St. Louis, why would you expect anything to be different with Gus under center? Look for a better option on the free agent wire or make a trade if necessary.

Dennis Northcutt, Jac WR - (4 rec, 73 rec yds, 1 TD) Northcutt had a nice stat line last week and there are many people out there that have snatched him off the waiver wire. That's a definite mistake. We're talking about a guy that struggled so much last season that the Cleveland Browns even gave up on him! David Garrard has excellent efficiency, but there's no mistaking him for Peyton Manning in terms of passing stats and there's no way that Northcutt could even carry Marvin Harrison's jock strap.

Trent Dilfer, SF QB - (126 pass yds, 1 pass TD, 1 INT) Granted, Dilfer had a difficult Week 5 task against the Baltimore Ravens. But it's no coincidence that Trent Dilfer has more career interceptions (120) than career touchdown passes (107). Better Week 6 options at quarterback include Kurt Warner, David Garrard, Derek Anderson, Jeff Garcia, and Daunte Culpepper.
