    Previous Gems:
    Bye Week

Need help sifting through the big performances from guys on your league's waiver wire to figure out who you want to pick up? Who's going to be the diamond in the rough and who's going to be a one week wonder? The Robin Sports Waiver Wire Gems will give you our take on the week's most noticeable stat lines. The goal of this column is to help you decide between the guys most likely to be available on your free agent wire. Here's how we'll break them down:

Buried Treasure - These guys really have some potential and they're players you should definitely consider adding to your team. The guys listed in the "No Brainers" section are those that I'm betting are already long gone in your league.
Fool's Gold - Don't get caught up in one week of success. These are guys that you'd be better off staying away from.

Lets start with the gems, THE BURIED TREASURE! The Week 3 stat line is in parenthesis.

Buried Treasure

Kevin Curtis, Phi WR - (11 rec, 221 rec yds, 3 TD) If your league doesn't have waivers, then Curtis was picked up by someone in your league by HALFTIME on Sunday! But, since this was Kevin Curtis's first big game of the season, I feel obligated to let you know that a waiver claim or a large bid in auction leagues is definitely in order. Curtis has become the No. 1 WR in Philly and he is a solid No. 2 fantasy WR as long as McNabb and company continue to play well. It's looking like Reggie Brown has become an afterthought.

Brian Leonard, StL RB - (21 rush yds, 1 rec, 6 rec yds) Stud running back Steven Jackson will be out at least one week with a partial tear in his groin. That means that Leonard will get the start this Sunday against the Cowboys. He'll see the bulk of the load, so he makes a decent play if you are thin on running backs.

Roddy White - (7 rec, 127 rec yds, 1 TD) One thing is clear in Atlanta. Joe Horn is not going to be the go-to guy in Atlanta. Although Roddy wasn't an opening day starter, he now appears to be Harrington's favorite target. Temper your expections, however, as the Atlanta offense is pretty poor. As a result, White should be nothing more than a No. 4 that can be plugged in with the right matchup.

Earnest Graham, TB RB - (75 rush yds, 2 TD) Cadillac has been banged up through the first 3 games and Graham has taken advantage of his opportunity. Head Coach Jon Gruden has said that he will try to get more carries, but Cadillac is the unquestioned starter. Graham is a must-own for all Cadillac owners.

Derrick Mason, Bal WR - (8 rec, 79 rec yds, 1 TD) With Mark Clayton turning out to be a complete bust, Derrick Mason should be considered the No. 1 receiver in Baltimore. If you're in need of help at wideout, Mason will be a steady source of receptions and he should find the end zone a few times along the way.

No Brainers: Brandon Marshall, Den WR; Brett Favre, GB QB; DeShaun Foster, Car RB; Nate Burleson, Sea WR; Greg Jennings, GB WR; Shaun McDonald, Det WR

Now let's take a look at THE FOOL'S GOLD

Fool's Gold

Joey Harrington, Atl QB - (361 passing yds, 2 TD) Harrington had 0 TD passes and 2 interceptions in his first two games, so don't let the performance over the weekend fool you. The addition of Byron Leftwich to challenge Joey makes this situation even more difficult to predict.

Kurt Warner, Ari QB - (258 passing yds, 2 TD) Warner looked like his old self when he took over for Matt Leinhart against the Ravens. Before you rush to the waiver wire, realize that Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt intends to stick with Leinhart as the starting QB.

Reuben Droughns, NYG RB - (3 rush yds, 2 TD) The New York Giants running back platoon is one that you want to avoid if at all possible. Furthermore, Droughns is the least desirable of the 3 backs. In a week or two when Jacobs is back, Ward and Jacobs will dominate the rushing yards and Jacobs will be the goalline back. Where will Droughns fit in?

Samkon Gado, Hou RB - (12 rush yds, 1 rush TD, 3 rec, 9 rec yds) Ahman Green shouldn't miss too much time, if any, due to his bruised knee. Backup RB Ron Dayne has bruised ribs, but he shouldn't miss anymore time either. As such, Gado will go back to being the 3rd RB very shortly.

Michael Pittman, TB RB - (56 rush yds, 3 rec, 35 rec yds) Cadillac's the starter, but Graham and Pittman have received considerable touchs as the backups. Which one do you choose if you're a Cadillac owner in search of depth? Go with Graham. He's going to get the scoring opportunities, so I believe he'll end up producing more fantasy points than Pittman.
