Welcome to the Studs & Duds section from RobinSports.com. Each week, we will examine the prime time players alongside the toilet bowl floaters for your enjoyment from the past weeks action. We will be giving out weekly awards to the best and worst performance all season. The awards are as follows: Let's start with the studs: ie. THE GOLDEN EGGS Golden Egg Award - Rob Bironas, K Ten
Honorable Mention:Tom Brady, QB NE - 354 PaYd, 6 PaTD (30,2,35,50,14,16) - This is becoming ridiculous. I am going to stop writing about Brady and just give him a reservation on the Golden Egg awards. Brady and the Pats shredded the Dolphins for 6 TD's through the air. Had the Dolphins been able to keep it even somewhat close, Brady could have thrown 10... This guy is in a zone like we have never seen before. Even during Manning's impressive record setting season, he was never this sharp. The footballs are hardly even touching the ground when Brady throws as he already has 27 TD passes on the season. Ken Watson, RB Cin - 130 RuYd, 3 RuTD (3,1,2), 27 ReYd - How about some love for the backups! In a season that has seen more than it's fair share of injuries to top NFL performers, it has been the backups who have lessened the blows. From Kenton Keith, to Ron Dayne, to Sammy Morris, and now Watson. I know their all professionals at this level, but these guys have been lights out for their clubs in relief. No wonder the NFL is moving to a dual back situation nearly everywhere. Brian Griese, QB CHI - 381 PaYd, 3 PaTD (39,33,81), 2 PaInt, RuYd, FL - Ok. Ok. We can admit when we're wrong. Griese was labeled a Donkey in the RobinSports Stable (Start 'Em & Sit 'Em) this week. So what does he do? Passes for 381 yards and 3 TD's. Go figure... Don't go jump off the deep end thinking Griese can save your season. While this performance was awesome, it was a product of the game because the Vikes were forcing the Bears to throw. Earnest Graham, RB TB - 92 RuYd, 99 ReYd - This is more of a plate of crow for us rather than an honorable mention at the award. For two weeks, we have talked about how bad Graham is in the Start 'Em Sit 'Em and then Graham pulls off almost 200 total yards. Had he put in a couple TD's, he would have been a serious contender for the Egg. As it is, keep the perspective that this was against a weak Lions defensive unit and Graham actual caught 13 passes! That won't happen too often, but it did this week. So here's to you Earnest. Can you at least pass the Tabasco? Ben Roethlisberger, QB Pit - 290 PaYd, 4 PaTD (1,13,13,12), 2 PaInt, 20 RuYd, FL - Big Ben and the Steelers took one on the chin at Denver, but that didn't stop Ben from having a spectacular game. Roth threw for nearly 300 yards and netted 4 TD's. He has fully established himself as a #1 QB this season and will be a factor in many fantasy playoffs. Nice work! Laveranues Coles, WR NYJ - 133 ReYd, 2 ReTD (57,36) - Coles has been nothing short of solid all season long catching over 40 balls for 450+ yards and 6 TD's. Those are #1 WR numbers. He again showed that he is Pennington's top target when it's crunch time against the Bengals and still has plenty of skill in the open field. Coles is also a top candidate to be on sale if you didn't already take a look at our StockWatch... Now let's take a look at which players likely cost their teams' games during opening week of the NFL Fantasy Season and earned their respective spot on: THE SEA PICKLES Sea Pickle Award - Santana Moss, WR Was
Honorable Mention:Patrick Crayton - 19 ReYd, FL - Obviously, Crayton is not ready to run with the big boys. Following 3 stellar performances in which he outperformed his teammate, T.O., Crayton rewards his owners newfound trust with a -1 point total for the week against the last ranked passing defense in the NFL. Go figure... On a personal note, this guy slapped a mud pie in my face too costing me a victory. You're fired Crayton! Laveranues Coles, WR NYJ - 27 RecYd - Coles struggled to get going all game long against a relentless Philly defense. We won't promote Coles to Sea Pickle status just yet as he has been a strong performer all season. But he did lay a turd in this one. Jason Campbell - 95 PaYd, PaInt, 7 RuYd - After three fine performances, many thought Campbell was on his way to stardom. Playing as a now #2 QB, Campbell managed to throw for a massive 95 yards with an interception. I just can't tell you how warm and fuzzy that makes my stomach.... Chris Cooley - 3 ReYd - The last of the entire Washington Redskin offense vying for this weeks Sea Pickle, Cooley had a phenomenal outing showing us all why he is a #1 TE. That's right: 3 Yards. Hooray! Too bad we don't get one point for every tenth of a yard.... Smelly. Roy Williams - 23 ReYd - This is the second straight stinker for Roy and fantasy owners are getting a bit uneasy. Typically, your studs are going to struggle from time to time, but struggling for them should be at least a 5-7 point week, not 2... One more stanley steamer like this and your going to get an award Roy. Marc Bulger - 225 PaYd, 3 PaInt, 2 FL - Wasn't this guy supposed to be one of the top 6 QB in fantasy? What a mess. The whole situation cannot be blamed on Bulger. The Rams stink, Jackson has been hurt, and Bulger was returning from an injury. But does that excuse the 5 turnovers? Not in my book. Sit him, flush him, drop him, whatever. Just don't start him. |

Rob Bironas - 8 FG (52,25,21,30,28,43,29,29), 2 XP - I am ashamed to have to put a kicker as the winner of a coveted Golden Egg Award, but how can you not? Bironas made not 1, not 2,...., but 8! That's right, 8 Field Goals in the Titans barn-burning win against the Texans. The NFL record 8 FG's are impressive alone, but the fact that he went 8 for 8 kicking them and nailed the game winner as time expires makes this one of the most impressive kicking performances in NFL history. What a game. Congratulations Rob, this will likely be the only Golden Egg you ever receive. Enjoy it.
Santana Moss - 8 ReYd - He has just 14 catches for 207 yards and zero touchdowns in five games. Are you kidding me!?! Most people had Moss as a low-end #2 or upper level #3 WR this season and he may as well not even be playing. The guy benches himself against the Packers complaining of his own crappy play and then throws out another humdinger this week with 2 catches for 8 yards... It's time for Santana to be flushed to where he belongs as no one would blame you for dropping this guy. Supreme Pickle!
