Welcome to the new Studs & Duds section from RobinSports.com. Each week, we will examine the prime time players alongside the toilet bowl floaters for your enjoyment from the past weeks action. We will be giving out weekly awards to the best and worst performance all season. The awards are as follows: Let's start with the studs: ie. THE GOLDEN EGGS Golden Egg Award - Adrian Peterson, RB MIN
Honorable Mention:LaDainian Tomlinson, RB SD - 198 RuYd, 4 RuTD (3,27,13,41), 16 ReYd - Now that is what we expect out of the consensus #1 overall pick. Welcome back LT. Thank goodness we called Norv and gave him the correct playbook. It reads something like this. LT Right. LT Left. LT Middle. LT Swing. Gates Dump. Your welcome LaDainian. Maurice Jones-Drew, RB JAX - 125 RuYd, 2 RuTD (7,57), 59 ReYd - Maurice Jones-Drew has burst back onto the fantasy scene following 3 games of pitiful performance. He is back to breaking the long runs for the Jags and has helped them setup a Jacksonville-Indy game that is full of playoff implications. Jones-Drew will be the eventual starter in Jacksonville, but good 'ol Fred continues to play well enough to warrant some carries. Brian Griese, QB CHI - 381 PaYd, 3 PaTD (39,33,81), 2 PaInt, RuYd, FL - Ok. Ok. We can admit when we're wrong. Griese was labeled a Donkey in the RobinSports Stable (Start 'Em & Sit 'Em) this week. So what does he do? Passes for 381 yards and 3 TD's. Go figure... Don't go jump off the deep end thinking Griese can save your season. While this performance was awesome, it was a product of the game because the Vikes were forcing the Bears to throw. Wes Welker, WR NE - 124 ReYd, 2 ReTD (35,12) - I just wanted to give this little guy a shout out. What a stud performance against the Cowboys. The credit isn't really for his stats, but if you saw the game, the fact that Welker, not Moss or Stallworth, IS the go-to receiver for Tom Brady. He is tough, catches everything thrown at him, and fights for key yards. Nice game. Tom Brady, QB NE - 388 PaYd, 5 PaTD (6,35,12,1,69), 5 RuYd, FL - I am just going to give Tom a permanent spot on the Egg Awards. This guy is straight up sick right now. Perfection is an insult for the way Tom is playing. Tony Gonzalez, TE KC - 102 ReYd, 2 ReTD (3,26) - Gonzalez breaks the all-time TE TD record this week against the Bengals and tacked on a bonus TD for good measure. Gonzalez has been the gold standard for the tight end position for many years now and we are here to say: Congratulations Tony! Oh yea. He topped 100 yards and helped the Chiefs beat down the Bengals at Arrowhead. Now let's take a look at which players likely cost their teams' games during opening week of the NFL Fantasy Season and earned their respective spot on: THE SEA PICKLES Sea Pickle Award - Vincent Jackson, WR SD
Honorable Mention:Alge Crumpler, TE ATL - 9 ReYd - Ok Alge. You almost earned yourself an award this week. You knew it was coming. When a tight end runs his mouth about his team and coach, he better be able to back it up. Well Alge, you showed us all why you are a second rate tight end in this league. Nice drop on 2nd down when your team needed a first down to pull within one score.... I guess that was Joey or Bobby's fault. Shut your mouth and do your job. Laveranues Coles, WR NYJ - 27 RecYd - Coles struggled to get going all game long against a relentless Philly defense. We won't promote Coles to Sea Pickle status just yet as he has been a strong performer all season. But he did lay a turd in this one. Philip Rivers, QB SD - 156 PaYd, PaInt, RuYd - Rivers is becoming a Sea Pickle regular as he continues to chase his first distinguished award. Rivers has been terrible pretty much all season and has fallen from the 2nd tier of the NFL fantasy QB's to the donkey tier. He shouldn't be starting for your team anymore. Torry Holt, WR StL - 33 ReYd - The entire Rams offense deserves a steamin' cow pie as that team should just quit. Torry pops up an amazing 33 yards this week. What happened to him being a #1 WR? We surely don't know, but he was straight up terrible this week. Shaun Alexander, RB SEA - 35 RuYd - Two weeks in a row now for Shaun as he quests for a Sea Pickle. The wrist is certainly bothering him despite what he has said. His performance this week is related to the game being out of reach after the first quarter, forcing the Seahawks to throw. But that sounds like an excuse for a player who was a top 5 pick. Straighten up, Shaun, or we will send you a brown curly Q. |

Adrian Peterson, RB MIN - 224 RuYd, 3 RuTD (67,73,35), 9 ReYd - Is there any question as to which is the best rookie coming out of college this season? Peterson was absolutely stunning on Sunday, torching the once respectable Bears defense for 224 rushing yards. All in all, Peterson racked up over 360 total yards on the day. W-O-W! If you were lucky enough to have LT and AP this week, you probably won your game....Congratulations Adrian, on your first, of many to come I might add, RobinSports Golden Egg!
Vincent Jackson, WR SD - 5 ReYd - For a guy who was supposed to be the new face of the San Diego wide receivers and a huge candidate for a breakout season, 1 catch for 5 yards about sums up his season thus far. Jackson has been a huge disappointment to owners and speculators this season. All in all, he just plain stinks. Well Vincent, perhaps this Sea Pickle will complete your aroma. Nice job.
