Welcome to the new Studs & Duds section from RobinSports.com. Each week, we will examine the prime time players alongside the toilet bowl floaters for your enjoyment from the past weeks action. We will be giving out weekly awards to the best and worst performance all season. The awards are as follows: Let's start with the studs: ie. THE GOLDEN EGGS Golden Egg Award - Jamal Lewis
Honorable Mention:Carson Palmer - Shootout or not, 401 passing yards and 6 TD's will usually earn you a golden egg. Palmer has proven to be one of the top fantasy quarterbacks through two games this season and this performance propels him to the top of the perch for now. With the lack of defense in Cincy, this could become an MVP season for Palmer as he is sure to continue to rack up the yards and TD's with his super receiver tandem. Chad Johnson - Well if Palmer made it, so does Johnson. Johnson torched the Browns secondary to the tune of 209 yards and 2 TD's. The best part of his performance was when he jumped into the dawg pound following his TD and was given a wonderful golden shower for his efforts. No, you dirty minded people, I am talking about all the beer Cleveland fans poured on Chad as he flailed around in the stands... Joey Galloway - Old or not, this man can flat out run. Showing the wheels that has made him a successful fantasy receiver for years now, Galloway posted 135 yards and 2 TD's to sink the Saints ship to 0-2. If for some unknown reason he is on your waiver wire, jump, hop, skip, fight, scratch, or claw and get him. NOW! Steve Smith - Despite the beneficiary of some 'lucky' bounces, when you rack up 153 yards and 3 TD's you get to have your name called on the ballot for the golden egg award. Smith's lightning speed and Delhomme's resurgence have propelled him back into one of the top 3 receivers in the NFL. Brett Favre - When you break the NFL's career victories record by a quarterback, you straight up earn at least a shout out in the awards. Favre did it in style too, as he thwarted the Giants with 286 yards, 3 TD, and only 1 INT to move his Packers to 2-0! Now let's take a look at which players likely cost their teams' games during opening week of the NFL Fantasy Season and earned their respective spot on: THE SEA PICKLES Sea Pickle Award - Lee Evans
Honorable Mention:Phillip Rivers - 179 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs does not make a happy fantasy player who had Rivers in the top 7 fantasy QB's to start the season. Whether it's the lack of support from his outside receivers, the missing running game from LT, or the fact that Norv Turner is a sorry coach doesn't really matter. You have to produce! Or face the fact that their will be 1 or 2 chunky monkeys in your trophy case by the end of the season. Reggie Bush - 27 rushing yards... 43 receiving yards... Yep. You're well on your way to earning the Sea Pickle of the year award there Reggie as you earn your second appearance in as many chances on the award ballot. As many fantasy teams burnt a 1st round pick on Bush, he has rewarded them with stellar play and immense excitement as he is playing like a #4 running back. Yippie! Ladanian Tomlinson - It makes me cringe to put this man on the ballot, but someone needs to light a fire under his ass. Through two games this season, LT has amassed a phenomenal 1.9 ypc average. That is good enough for last place in the league among starting running backs. Wow! The consensus #1 overall pick has caused many teams to start out 0-2 this season. Calling LT! Calling LT! Why am I getting no answer.... Just weather the storm folks. Rex Grossman - Despite the victory, cries are growing louder for Griese in Chicago. Grossman ended the day with a measly 160 yards, with 1 TD and 2 INTs. That's just not going to get it done in the NFL. Our keen sense of smell foresees a chocolate truffle in Rex's future. Alex Smith - Breakout player of the year, huh... We are ashamed to admit that even we thought the best was ahead for young Alex Smith. Two weeks later? 252 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs. Don't fret though Alex, one good game and an air freshener away and you are off the Pickle hunt. |

I thought this guy quit playing football... No seriously, Jamal lit it up on Sunday to the tune of 216 rushing yards a TD! For a player who most had written off and even more had forgotten about, this was straight up amazing! Lewis was well-known for his 200 yard performances as he has toasted the Browns in recent years. Now with the Browns, perhaps the Bengals are his new spinach as this was a Popeye effort! Congratulations Jamal!
What a turd. Don't give me that crap about "Oh, it's Losman's fault" Lee just plain stinks. For those of you who used a 3rd or 4th round pick on him, my sincerest apologies go out to you. In two games this season, Evans now has 1 fantasy point. That is just spectacular. Congratulations on your newest achievement, Lee; your first ever Sea Pickle. Even worse is the fact that you have to hold onto the guy and hope he rights the ship.
