RANK Player w/ 2006 Stats Receptions Yards Average Touchdowns Fantasy Points
11 Javon Walker DEN 69 1084 15.7 8 154
2006 was a great rebound season for Walker as he proved that the 2005 knee injury is history. He'll have a full season to work with Jay Cutler and he'll be the #1 WR in Denver. Expect him to come off the board in the 4th or 5th round.
12 Larry Fitzgerald ARI 69 946 13.8 6 119
Fitzgerald was hampered by a hamstring injury in 2006 and missed 3 games, so make sure you take that into consideration when you look at his '06 numbers. That said, he looks like an excellent candidate to have a mini sleeper season in '07 because last year's injury may cause him to slide a round or two in your draft. Look for the former Pittsburgh Panther to be chosen in the 4th or 5th round, which will be a nice bargain.
13 Randy Moss NE 42 553 13.2 3 69
The change of scenery is sure to do good for Moss, but how good is the question. Randy has only topped the 1000 yard mark in receiving only once in the last 3 years (1005 yards in 2005). How much of that was malcontent and how much was a decline in skills? 2007 is a fresh start, so we'll see what he can do as the No. 1 guy on a Super Bowl contender with one of the best quarterbacks in the game throwing him the rock. You know that somebody in your league is going to get caught up in the hype and pick him in the 3rd round, but his true value is more like that of a late 4th rounder or 5th rounder.
14 Roy Williams DET 82 1310 16.0 7 188
2006 was the breakout season in what looks like a very bright career as Williams doubled his catches and receiving yards totals from 2005. The wildcard in determining his real value is the arrival of Calvin Johnson. The new stud from Georgia Tech is going to severely cut into Mike Furrey's 2007 totals and he is likely to dip into Williams' numbers a little as well. Roy Williams is a solid 5th round selection.
15 Donald Driver GB 92 1295 14.1 8 198
You might not have guessed it, but check out Driver's average stat line for the last 3 seasons: 87 receptions, 1241 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns. With that kind of consistency, Donald Driver is an excellent wideout to take as a low-end No. 1 or top notch No. 2 fantasy WR.
16 Laveranues Coles NYJ 91 1098 12.1 6 135
After two straight disappointing seasons in 2004 and 2005, Coles finally rebounded in '06 with 91 receptions for 1098 yards. That's the kind of production that he should be about to put forth on a yearly basis. Look for Coles to go around the 5th or 6th round as a No. 2 fantasy wide receiver.
17 Hines Ward PIT 74 975 13.2 6 133
When I think of Hines Ward, I think of a guy who's regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the league. Unfortunately, it's the intangibles that make him great and the "little things" that he brings don't mean jack in fantasy football. Ward is a nice No. 2 option, but don't get fooled into thinking that he can headline your receiving corp.
18 Braylon Edwards CLE 61 884 14.7 6 119
Braylon Edwards looks like a nice sleeper candidate for 2007. He's going into his 3rd season, which is typically the breakout year for wide receivers. He'll also be a part of what should be an improved Browns offense with the additions along the O-line and RB. Don't expect the QB competition to have much impact on his production.
19 Plaxico Burress NYG 63 988 15.7 10 158
Burress has the size and talent to be a fantasy stud, but he always seems to have issues with injuries and with his work ethic. Look at Plaxico as a solid No. 2 fantasy option and expect him to come off of the board around the 5th or 6th round.
20 Chris Chambers MIA 59 677 11.5 4 91
How much of 2006 can be attributed to the Dolphins' disaster at quarterback and how much was Chambers's fault? Trent Green should stabilize the QB position, so his 2007 performance will rest solely on Chris's shoulders. Expect Chambers to be around when you're looking for your 2nd or 3rd wide receiver.
