21 Jacobs, Brandon RB NYG 98 431 4.4 9 11 149 13.5 0 1 98
Jacobs has some mammoth shoes to fill in those of likely Hall-of-Famer, Tiki Barber. He is a physical specimen himself though. He will open the season as the #1 back in NY despite the Giants trade for Reuben Droughns. Regardless of whether Jacobs can handle the load alone, he will certainly be a consistent source of short yardage TD's for the Giants this season making him a valuable asset to own in the backfield.
22 Jones, Thomas RB NYJ 297 1205 4.1 6 36 154 4.3 0 1 167
The under appreciated Jones found himself let go by yet another club as the Bears decided to part ways. He finds a home with Mangini's Jets though and despite the presence of Washington and Houston will turn in yet another 1000 yard season and provide a high end #3 back for your team next season.
23 Green, Ahman RB HOU 266 1059 4 5 46 373 8.1 1 2 175
Green enters 2007 with a new club as well. Green is on the wrong side of 30, but he will be the feature back for a Houston team that has an ever improving offensive line. Green will be great value in the fifth to seventh rounds this year provided he can avoid the injury bug. If he is still out there by Round 6 of your draft, it is time to pounce!
24 McAllister, Deuce RB NO 245 1061 4.3 11 30 198 6.6 0 1 188
Despite the presence of Reggie Bush last season, McCallister continued to thrive all season long. Posting over 1000 yards on under 250 carries is exactly the type of season to expect from McCallister again. The combination of Bush and McCallister is a nightmare for opposing defenses and there is no reason to think that things will change from Coach Payton. Look for McCallister to be a quality low-end #2 back this season, worthy of a selection in the 3rd-4th round.
25 Taylor, Fred RB JAC 231 1146 5 5 23 242 10.5 1 2 170
Fragile Fred had a terrific 2006 campaign, rushing for 1146 yards on only 231 carries. Last season, he made a complete life-style change to eat right and keep his body in supreme condition. It paid off. And word out of Jacksonville is that he is in even better shape this season. Despite the age and presence of Jones-Drew, Fred will be a high end #3 back to have this season providing teams will a solid option for matchups.
26 Jones-Drew, Maurice RB JAC 166 941 5.7 13 46 436 9.5 2 1 227
Drew will be a player that so many people will have sleepless nights over this season. After a phenomenal rookie campaign, many sites and fantasy advisors have Drew as a sure-fire 2nd round pick. Ummm. Ok... Look, the guy has skill. But carrying the load for the Jags? I don't think so. Taylor is determined to stay around as he has reported to camp in supreme physical condition once again. Drew will be a quality #3 back this season, but a #1 is a couple of years away. Don't say you were not warned....
27 Dunn, Warrick RB ATL 286 1140 4 4 22 170 7.7 1 0 158
Dunn has never received the credit he deserves for being a great NFL back. Always deemed as being too small to handle the NFL, all he has done is rush for over 1100 yards the past three seasons. The problem is that father time is clicking on skat-master. Dunn is 32 now and Petrino has said that Norwood is his man-crush. While Dunn may have some left in the tank, the risk is too great that we will see a 700 yard season out of the vet.
28 Lewis, Jamal RB CLE 314 1132 3.6 9 18 115 6.4 0 2 167
Following a season where he rushed for over 1100 yards, Jamal Lewis was released by the Baltimore Ravens. He finds a home with the team he has scorched over the years in the Cleveland Browns. Lewis will have the luxury of an improved offensive line, but father time is not on his side as the Tennessee product has lost a step or two. He is still capable of 1000 yards, but his value lies as a very low #2 or upper #3 back from now on.
29 Lynch, Marshawn, RB BUF                   0
Buffalo rookie running back, Marshawn Lynch, will be given every opportunity to take the starting job in Buffalo. The Bills parted ways with McGahee this off season and it will be up to Lynch to shoulder the load. Blessed with exceptional speed and quickness, Lynch will provide the Bills with a weapon in the aerial attack as well. It will be difficult to justifying more than a 4th-5th round pick for the rookie, but he could provide dividends in his rookie campaign.
30 Betts, Ladell RB WAS 245 1154 4.7 4 53 445 8.4 1 3 186
Betts falls into the #3 back scenario despite rushing for over 1150 yards in limited action last season. Betts was a primary reason for many fantasy titles last season following the injury to Portis as he stepped in and never looked back. Portis is back this year, but Betts will not be forgotten as the Redskins chose to sign him to a free agent contract in the off-season. Betts is a must for Portis owners and will make a quality #3 back himself regardless of Portis.
