21 Delhomme  Jake QB CAR 431 263 2805 17 11 82.6 18 12 0 157
Delhomme experienced one of his down years last season as the entire Panthers team looked lost and out of sync. Delhomme, a career backup before arriving in Carolina, will be challenged by the arrival of David Carr. Another 2800 yards and 17 TD's and we may just see the demise of Delhomme. It remains his job to lose, but that makes him the lowest of #2 QB's available. Take him in the last couple rounds in your draft if you need another QB, but he may be on the waiver wire come seasons' beginning.
22 Garcia  Jeff QB TB 249 148 1702 12 2 92.8 33 110 0 122
The crafty veteran resurrected his career last season as he came in for the injured Donovan McNabb to lead the Eagles to six straight wins and a playoff birth. Not too shabby for a guy who was forgotten by the league. At 37, his keeper status is void, but Garcia may have a few surprise games in him yet as he will likely supplant Chris Simms as the starting QB to begin the season. The pressure is on Gruden to win now, and Garcia can give him that chance with his swing and dump pass style ala Rich Gannon. Take a flier on Garcia, there could be a diamond in the rough here.
23 Leftwich  Byron QB JAC 184 109 1158 7 5 79 25 41 2 79
Leftwich returns from the injury that cost him most of last season. Prior to being knocked out, Leftwich was already on a short leash. Jacksonville has some quality weapons on the offensive side of the ball with Jackson, Jones, Taylor, and Jones-Drew so the supporting cast is there. It is plain and simple, time to put up or hang 'em up for Byron. Since he came into the league, there has been nothing but hype and support for this guy. Well the sand has ran out of the glass and Garrard is waiting in the weeds to take this spot once and for all. He will be in a contract year, and that always adds to a players' motivation, but we still advise you to take Leftwich as a middle end #3 QB at best.
24 Pennington  Chad QB NYJ 525 336 3652 18 17 82.3 38 112 0 193
Pennington has defied the odds by simply making it in the NFL as a starting QB. He has been labeled as a player without the ability to throw the deep ball and now he finds himself coming into his second season following dual shoulder surgeries. The best attribute Pennington maintains is his intelligence. There have been many a QB throughout the NFL's history that have been superb QB's without the blessing of a rifle arm (see Joe Montana). Pennington will have some solid talent on the outsides in Cotchery and Coles and with newcomer Jones catching out of the backfield, it could be a sleeper season for the JET. He is worth the chance as a mid #3 QB.
25 Grossman  Rex QB CHI 480 262 3197 23 20 73.9 24 2 0 178
Rex gave owners gray hair last season as they rode his rollercoaster from hell. Let's take a closer look in case you missed it. In 5 games last season, Rex averaged -4 points. (YES, THAT IS A NEGATIVE SIGN!) In 5 games last season, Rex averaged 29 points. Get the picture? Grossman has the talent to be a top flight QB in the NFL, but consistency is what we all crave from a fantasy perspective. Playing with the neurotic Chicago Bears offense doesn't help the situation either as the Bears treat their offensive unit like red-headed step-children. Rex is a #3. Nothing more.
26 McNair  Steve QB BAL 497 313 3223 16 14 80.6 46 125 1 182
McNair is old. His prime has past him by. But you cannot ignore the fact that he plays on a contender who upgraded the running game and has a host of WR's who can get the job done. While McNair will be too unreliable to be a consistent starter, he will be able to be a spot starter as a late draft pick. Air McNair is gone, but there is a little value left in the tanks.
27 Schaub Matt QB HOU 27 18 208 1 2 71.2 7 21 0 10
Matt Schaub arrives in Houston to replace the recently departed former #1 pick, David Carr. Schaub was widely regarded as the best backup in the NFL and was traded to a big contract accordingly this offseason. He is smart, has a strong arm, and will play well in Houston. The problem is that Houston continues to disregard their offensive line. The reason Carr failed in Houston was not his talent, it was his offensive line. Schaub will learn very quickly what a sack feels like after about 7 of them in the first game...
28 Harrington  Joey QB ATL 388 223 2236 12 15 68.2 18 24 0 114
The journeyman Harrington gets yet another chance to lead an NFL team as he takes over the starting job for the Atlanta Falcons. Call us crazy, but Petrino's style will mesh nicely with Harrington's skills and he could become a sleeper to be a solid #3 QB.
29 Croyle Brody QB KC 7 3 23 0 2 11.9 3 -3 0 -4
Young Croyle will likely earn the starting job as the field general for the KC Chiefs. Croyle is the teams choice for the future despite the great play from Huard last season. Croyle is young and aggressive and will have a nice outlet to remove some pressure in Larry Johnson. However the WR in KC are weak and the offensive line is bad, so it will be a long season for the Alabama product.
30 Frye  Charlie QB CLE 391 251 2449 10 17 72.1 47 215 3 118
It is uncertain if Frye will even start for the Browns, and if he does, how long will it be before Quinn takes the reigns from him? Anderson has been given the slot at #1 in pre-season, but that won't last. Either way, just avoid the Browns QB merry-go-round.
